It is maintained by Scott's sister Malisa Twelves. We hope to keep you updated on the adventures we hear about from Scott through his letters and emails. We are so proud of him and we know he will return with honor.FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.comBlogger22125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-75083060110633259052009-04-27T17:17:00.000-07:002009-04-27T17:18:59.440-07:00Scott's newest letter Dated 04/27/09April 27, 2009
Mom I am fine, I am sorry again that I didn’t get to write last time. I will tell you what happened. We had the chance to go to a place called Keunek hof. It is one of the most popular places in the world, let alone Netherlands. The missionaries are only allowed to do it once a year, so we didn’t want to miss this opportunity to see it. The down side was that we got home late and didn’t have time to e mail. What Keuken hof is, is flowers beyond your wildest dreams, fields of them. Huge tulips and roses all kinds of colors you wont believe it when you see the pictures. So many kinds of flowers and water fountains and art work it was crazy.Thank you for the birthday card. The photo was in New York. And those zits comics were golden thanks mom. We ate a big apple pie that we bought at the store for my birthday. ooh it was so good. The only thing I got that was fun for my birthday was a book in Dutch about the temples. It is really old but I wanted to have it so I can still read Dutch when I get back.It is good to hear that the missionary moms are having fun. I absolutely love those moms they are such awesome peopleI will try to remember when I take pictures and where for future references. Oh I can’t believe the wonderful things that are happening here; we are being blessed with so many people to teach I am surprised at the blessings that the Lord has blessed us with. I am really trying to push my self and give 100% I know this is the Lords work and I want to give all I have and more. I see so many miracles every day. The other day we were teaching 2 students. Mie and Asadeh they are so wonderful Mie is Buddhist and Asadeh is Muslim. They are a testimony to me that the lord loves all his children. The spirit is so strong when we teach them. I love there willingness to participate in the lessons and ask questions. we were teaching about Christ, and how he has won sin for us. But we didn’t have time to talk about how he overcame death and they were like. "But what is the other thing?" they are great.I have seen the wonderful members change before my eyes I love the amazing people here. I love you all. Malisa thank you for the letter and Mindy thank you as well. Oh and Dave and James hah I love you allFamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-37900832132556248912009-03-08T18:48:00.000-07:002009-03-08T19:03:26.695-07:00More Pictures!See the key? He is going to activities and came to church last week and is doing his home teaching this week! Can you believe that? I am amazed my self.
I have really gained a testimony about following the spirit and how important it is and how we are always blessed when we do it. I feel bad when I don’t because I know that the adversary has won one. But I repent and try my best. I need more strength, and I need to lose a few pounds as well. haha whoo am I getting quite the belly, I am a little worried but I am trying to work out a little at nights to keep it off. And don’t worry I am sending pictures today so you can see this madness haha.
Well I love you all so much. Thank you for the love and all that you do.

Love elder Dalpias

ps there was another baptism here in den Haag last week, two teenagers got baptized. they are such examples of faith, there mom wants to be baptized to but she needs to marry there dad first and his heart needs to be a little softened first, but he came to the baptism and to church the next day!! this is an eternal family in the making. even their friends and grandma are now investigating the church. What a blessing.

FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-22328391485902560762009-01-20T11:10:00.000-08:002009-01-20T11:12:10.696-08:00a baptism

Haha hey mom you cute bute haha "cut make the print"? hahah I think you were trying to quote the Grinch haha don’t feel bad though I just laughed and remembered the fun times we had watching movies and quoting them haha. Thanks for that.
Ok well let’s talk baptism. Humfried will be baptized on Friday at 7. He has asked me if I would baptize him. ya it was a little of a surprise for me but he said "you have been my support through this all and I want you to baptize me". Wow I didn’t know what to say. I tried to help him realize that I would be leaving some time in the future but I don’t think he understood but I felt the spirit so I accepted and am glad to be able to perform this ordinance. And Brother Scherf will be performing the ordinance of giving the gift of the holy ghost so that is good he will be able to have him with him even when I leave. It is not that I don’t want to baptize him it is just that I know I will be leaving eventually. But I am so grateful for this opportunity.
Satan has his ways of trying to stop these things so I really appreciate all your prayers.
Everyone I love you. I have pictures put on CD’s, I just haven’t sent them yet so I will try to get them sent as soon as possible.
groet, elder Dalpias

oh ps i am really getting along with my companion he is just like me in a lot of ways. We are goofs but we work hard. I will try to get you a pic of him soon.

FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-19323471773869186562009-01-13T10:43:00.000-08:002009-01-13T10:44:47.906-08:00The Lord Loves All of His ChildrenHey!!
It’s hard to believe but it is a new transfer already. I told you last week, but my new companion is elder Walker. Wow he is so awesome, what a good teacher and example I really like the fire he has.
Ok "hold on to your buts." ANOND is coming to the temple!!!!! He was an inactive member in Heerenveen. And he is doing so well. He is now the young men’s president and is receiving the Melchesideck (however you spell that hahah) priesthood. Wow and I am living in Zoetermeer by the temple so I should be able to go when he comes for the first time to get his endowment. Wow what a blessing to see this brother progress, to see the lord just working with him. I remember when we took him on joint teaching and he shared his testimony, wow at that moment I knew, that he knew, it was true. He came every Sunday after that, well, he missed one but he goes to institute every week, and is just really strong. Wow the lord loves all of his children. I know it.
Groet,

Elder Dalpias
FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-38472283796010645422009-01-05T10:58:00.001-08:002009-01-05T11:01:59.191-08:00Back on track!Hello all,

This is Malisa, I am in charge of posting Elder Dalpias's emails and I have been such a slacker. But I have resolved to do much better and post whenever he sends a letter! I had an opportunity to talk to Scott on Christmas and he sounds great! He truly loves the work and the people in the Netherlands. He has a bit of a typical missionary accent, but he still sounds like Scott! Well, enough from me! Here is his latest letter!

"Ok hey everyone.
Don’t worry I have enough time to talk to you today. Ill write long ones but I would like long ones in return.
But I love it, just getting out there every day and serving the lord. Well it is overplatzing today. Transfers and sadly I am loosing elder Nay, man I really am going to miss him. He is such a good missionary.
My new companion is elder Walker. I have seen him before and he was in my district for my first transfer. I am really looking forward to be working with him.
As for the work here in delft it is going amazing. I am so glad that I can be apart of it. There is a man named Humphret who is getting baptized on the 24 of this month, wow he is so strong I really love his spirit, I really love teaching him, he is so awesome. He loves the book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. Our last apt he bore testimony that the book of Mormon was true and he felt that this was the true church on the earth today. Wow it was so good. I am really excited for him. Today was a little crazy. Elder Nay is going to Hangalo, elder Rayfield is going to Amersvort. So there are some changes. It is coming down hard. I am glad it is preparation day. We are going to try to get a little rest today. Last time as you know we did a zone preparation day where we played a little too hard and we were sore, it made it really hard to work. I guess I should tell you last week was the hardest week so far. We saw so much opposition and it just was really hard. But things are picking up we made it through our trial and came out improving we are really excited to learn and improve from our experience.

I don’t know if I have told you about Gerard. Wow he is a big reason why I am here in Heerenveen I just feel it. He is making so much progress. We gave him a baptismal date but he said he needed more time. But he came to church and everyone was so nice, I was just praying hard that he would have a good experience. Our lessons with him are always so good. I keep seeing the picture of me and him in the temple, and me just giving him a big hug. I hope and pray that I can live worthy enough and listen to the promptings of the spirit so that it will happen.

Everyone start writing in your journal!!! Well let’s start by answering some questions that you have. No I haven’t got my new bike seat yet but we are on plan to do it today. Actually we are trying to buy everything for a whole transfer today it will be interesting. haha ok well anyway. I don’t get to go to the temple for a while, but boy do I need it, it is so bad out here, just the billboards and signs, I have never sang so many hymns in my life. haha as far as elder Kessler. I still have him and he is as awesome as ever. But this is his last transfer before he goes home so I will have a new comp next transfer. (overplatsing).
I cant seem to find the recipes I have only the brownie one. if you could send me some, like gnocchi and others that I could cook that would be great, sandwiches are getting a little old, hahah ok well as for the people we are teaching, it has been really interesting, you see we have received 2 golden referrals, one from a woman inSsteenwijk who has read the book of Mormon and wants to get baptized, we haven’t even met her or talked to her so we will see what happens with that. The other verwijzing (referral) was a woman with 8 children and she went on the church website and requested missionaries to come and teach her, so this is amazing! We teach her on Wed. as for Zomerette, she tells us still that she feels so good when we come buy, the only problem is that she can’t progress unless she comes to church, and her children do not want to go so she can’t leave them at home. It is really difficult.
As for pictures they are being developed now so I should be able to send them this week or next depending on how today goes. There is a conference where a 70 is coming to speak to us. It is really awesome.
Just a side note about where I am. The clouds here are amazing. What you need to do is watch the Grinch and look at those clouds. That is how it here about every day. It is so beautiful.
I love you all so much
love Elder Dalpias

FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-67934022268350824002008-08-23T18:52:00.000-07:002008-08-23T18:58:00.025-07:00Latest email!Hey,
It sounds like everything is going good over there. Our ward is doing ok, I love it, it is just really small. But the Lord has big plans for this branch. I can see the day when we have a stake in Heerenveen that will be so awesome.
As for if I am taking notes of where to go, haha sorry I am not, but I have a good memory and I can speak Nederland’s so I don’t think we will have a problem. As for, am I taking pictures? Yes, I have a few and I am planning on next transfer sending a CD with them home. I would do it sooner but I have no money, wow this first transfer has been hard with all the traveling we have had to do it has sucked me dry, I even owe 70 euros to my own account witch I took out one of the first weeks I was here. But the money is not important. If all I had to eat was worms I would still be out here. The people are amazing! Familie Rozendala is still going strong and I am really hoping that Mr. Van Lend will pull through he is so cool.
We had district meetings and president interviews on Monday in Zwolla. Wow it was so good, president took me aside and told me to talk to the people on the street as if they were your friends, he said "how often would you go up to one of your friends and tell them, I have a message for you about..." you would never say that you would see how they were doing and really show that you care about them. We have been applying that and seeing really a change in the success we have been having, we also ask questions to really get to understand them. It is amazing how much more someone will talk to you when you care and really try to help them, not that I wasn’t before. I just found out how to show it, another thing president asked was to show the power of prayer and if you feel inclined just to pray right there on the street, I haven’t done it on the street, but on the door once and it was a really spiritual experience. It is amazing how the lord will fill your mouth when you really are seeking his will.

love Elder Dalpias

FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-76878756088853921522008-08-13T17:39:00.000-07:002008-08-13T18:07:58.401-07:00A new email yay!

I don't know about you guys but I love hearing from Scott! It seems like too long in between letters, but I know he is working hard! I hope you enjoy this week's email!

"Hey!
How are you guys? Well, right now I am in Amsterdam and it is huge! We are in a library with about 11 floors of books, movies, and music. It is crazy, this town is huge. We are here because we had a zone confrence here and we asked president if it would be ok if we spent our p-day in Amsterdam and he said that would be fine. So, here we are it is a really big place. Do you remember those people that stood in the middle of the centrums in Germany, and they were impersonating statues? Well, we saw a couple of them here. It was cool they had a Darth Vader and Ares (god of war) and Poseidon.

While we were here roaming around in Amsterdam (don't worry we know where the bad streets are haha) two Americans came up to us and took pictures with us. It was really nice of them.

Elder Kestler, my comp, is from Filmore Utah. I am really hoping for one man in particular, he just needs to pray about it. He has so many questions... and thats good, but he just needs to know it is true and so many of his questions wouldn't matter anymore. I don't know if that makes sense but thats how I see it.

Another family is doing really good. He knows it is true there whole family dose as well. the mom is struggling to discern when she is feeling the holy ghost, so we are teaching a lot about that and I really think it is helping. Malisa here with a small update from Elder Dalpias's last email. I have condensed it and I am just gonna post the fun stuff!

"Hey i am taking my p-day on Tuesday this week because we are having a zone p-day in Zwolle it is going to be awesome. We have a branch in Heerenveen, there is usually about 30 people that come each week. We get fed by the members almost every day they are so awsome and nice. The weather here was horrible the first couple of days it was 70 degrees and 90 percent humidity. Well it sure felt like it. He always had a spiritual comment to say. He kept me doing what was right. If it were not for him, I wouldn't be here on a mission. As I was flying over to Brussels, I had the opportunity to talk to the flight attendant for sometime. She came and sat next to me as we talked. I started to talk to her about her family. As we talked, I shared with her that my grandpa had just died which caused her to be sad. I looked her in the eyes and holding back tears, I said, 'I know that I will see him again and that I will live with him and my whole family in the Kingdom of our Father in Heaven.' At the end of the flight, I gave her a Book of Mormon and testified again. During the first three days the new mission presidents come to be trained by the prophets and apostles. So they were here this week. I wanted to see one so bad. Well this is what happened. Missionaries are not aloud at the front desk because that is where the prophets and the apostles come in. but I received a call saying that I needed to come down there and call president Cope. At first I was worried that something happened to Grandpa Dalpias. But to my relief it was just about my calling as zone leader.

So we were waiting at the front desk while they were helping us when a worker said very casually hey its Elder Holland again. Wow! I turned and there he was. We were the only missionaries in the room because missionaries weren’t allowed in there. He started to just walk by. Stopped suddenly, looked at us, and started waking towards us. He shook me and my companions hand and asked us how we were doing and headed off to his meeting. This experience was amazing. We have been teaching constantly about prophets and apostles but to actually meet one was amazing. I wanted to share my testimony in Dutch but I think he was heading to a meeting.

Later that night we had the privilege in our fireside to have Elder Holland, Elder Scott, Elder Perry and Elder Christoferson there, with Elder Oaks speaking. We knew that there was going to be apostles speaking that night so a lot of people lined up at the doors way before it started. We on the other hand went to a door that was locked. We happened to see the 1st councilor in the mtc presidency, and I asked "Are these doors supposed to be open?" and he said oh ya let me check. So we got right in and were 20 ft away from the podium. Wow the spirit there was amazing."
FamiliesareForeverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11926824779920220072noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925076837832965752.post-74480204146845764562008-07-13T17:03:00.000-07:002008-07-13T17:11:00.527-07:00Advice from Elder DalpiasLast Wednesday (July 9th 2008), I wrote an Email to Scott asking for advice about a certain problem I was having. I was so impressed with his answer that I felt compelled to share it with you. He wrote...

"i have one suggestion, read the book of mormon!! read it!
before i came on my mission reading the book of mormon was a chore almost and now i love every minute of it, i get up in the morning for personal study and i am litteraly dissipointed that i only get 1 hr to read from this great book. Nephi said " behold the words of God yay even the words that heal the wounded sole" i dont know what problems you are having and i am sad that i cant be there. but i know with all my heart that the lord knows. that he cares about you and that he has felt what you are feeling. call on him for help for his burden is light and he will take your yoke upon him (mat 18 i think) i know this with everything that i am. because i have seen it in my life and especially as i have been here at the mtc.
